Welcome back to another strategy session. If you've been hanging around our World of Tamaris community, you know how much we love dissecting the perfect frontline. Today, we're diving into the ultimate playbook for Infantry mains. Grab your favorite brew, settle in, and let's focus on the key choices that turn your marches into an unstoppable force!
Why Walk the Infantry Path?
Choosing the Infantry path is a game-changer, especially if you start early or by the close of Season 1. Infantry stands as the ultimate jack-of-all-trades, dominating Behemoth battles, Alliance showdowns, and Roots of War. The best part? Racking up merits is a breeze, since enemies can't resist targeting your ironclad marches and then eat punishing counterattacks. Prepare to train an army worthy of legends to soak up all that frontline chaos.
Laying the Groundwork: Factions and Research
Before you set foot on the battlefield, you'll need a rock-solid foundation:
- Wilderburg is highly recommended for its Legion March Speed and Physical Attack, which directly boosts your counterattack damage.
- Spring Wardens is a great alternative for sustainability, offering Elixir Production Speed to help clear your constantly full hospitals.
- In your technology tree, prioritize defensive tech by maxing out Defensive Formations (for a 50%+ defense increase) and First Aid (for a 50%+ HP increase).
- Rush to Tier 5 (T5) troops as fast as possible after your defensive tech, as this unlocks a massive spike in Physical Defense, Magic Defense, and HP.
The Best 3-March Setups to Dominate the Field
Since the Generation 2 (G2) heroes arrived, Infantry has secured its spot as a top-tier field presence. If you are jumping into an open-field brawl or a statue fight where you are limited to three marches, this trio will generate massive merits, with the key builds doing the heavy lifting.
March 1: The Foundation – Goresh & Skogul
This dynamic duo sets the gold standard for Infantry, blending rock-solid Defense with devastating counterattacks.

- Heroes: Aim to build Goresh to 5-5-5-1 first, then strongly consider awakening Skogul to maximize her sheer PvP power in the open field.
- Artifact: Equip the Spirit Bone Torque, arguably the best infantry artifact, to taunt up to 5 surrounding enemy legions and grant a massive 30% defense bonus at max level.
- War Pet: Use the Venomous Lizard to punish attackers with poison damage, or the Bruin Bear for perfect natural synergy.
March 2: The Unkillable Tanks – Kuma & Lei Kuan
This march is the battlefield's fortress. Kuma stands as the toughest infantry hero, wielding life-drain powers so intimidating that enemies think twice before picking a fight.

- Heroes: Run Kuma as the primary in the open field, and prioritize awakening him for a massive 20% HP bonus that scales his life-drain abilities. Pair him with Lakeweaver, who can take the primary spot for rallies.
- Artifact: Use Serpent's Edge, which is perfectly tailored for Kuma. Its active skill grants a 30% HP bonus for 15 seconds, and it stacks extra attack and Defense whenever the legion gains an HP buff.
- War Pet: The Mossrock is an overpowered, absolute must-have pet for this march, passively granting substantial Infantry HP bonuses that make Kuma nearly immortal at three stars.
March 3: The Punishers – Joran & Elanir
While your tanks absorb the hits, this fearsome pair hunts down fragile mages and archers, dishing out the highest counterattack damage in the game.

- Heroes: This duo stacks immense counterattack damage buffs across almost all their skills, relying on quick kills via counter-bursts. Deploy them alongside your tankier marches, so they have the time to stack their massive buffs.
- Artifact: Equip the Forgotten Shield to balance their offensive nature with crucial defensive stats like Infantry/Legion HP. It deals damage to 5 nearby enemies, stacks up to a 25% defense bonus, and synergizes perfectly with Joran's "Parry" mechanic.
- War Pet: The Brimstone Aurochs is the undeniable best-in-slot here, as it is the only pet in the game with a "Parry" attribute, which increases your parry chance and deals significant counter-damage.
Decorations & City Skins
Epic decorations such as Sword, Wolf, or Owl sculptures boost your Defense. But if you can snag a Legendary, the Moonlight Fountain reigns supreme, showering your city with huge HP bonuses and Attack Resistance. Make it your top prize.
City Skins: Avoid Conqueror's Fang (Defense Penetration is virtually useless for Infantry tanks). Instead, use Night Rose (Defense bonus) or Butterfly Palace (HP bonus), and prioritize the stronger option.
Epic skins like Pagoda of Harmony or Auspicious Rain are also strong alternatives.
